How To Eliminate Rust On Radiators

A central heating system is a great addition to any home, but a less than desired addition is the rust that starts to appear on your radiators. A common problem is rust and its left up to you to do something about it. Some do decide to leave them as they are, but they don’t look very attractive do they? If you have visitors coming round, the last thing you want is to have rusty radiators on show. So, if this sounds like something your house suffers with, its time to do something about it.

For the sake of this article, we’ll call this central heating spring cleaning. It’s a catchy name and it should help persuade you that regular central heating maintenance is essential. This could be booking a boiler service in or cleaning dust off your system, but today’s lesson is all about rusty radiators.

Lets just say that you have central heating Newcastle and you’re a proud housewife. Tomorrow is the day when people are coming over to visit you and you just know you have to do something about the radiators before they arrive. Tip1: Did you know that rust is actually very common on radiators, and it is all caused by the water in the central heating system. The first thing to do is to strip back the surface to bare metal. Do this properly by using a proper paint and varnish stripper.
Tip 2: Once you have done the stripping, the next step is to prime the metal and this will seal the top surface.
Tip 3: Once the radiator is dry you might want to apply radiator enamel.
Tip 4: Head down to your local DIY store to pick up all these bits and more – there’s a great selection to choose from.
Tip 5: Don’t use ordinary paint on radiators as this can cause problems.
