Best Practice Before Buying: Browse Consumer Electronics Reviews

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

People buy electronics for variable reasons. For instance, technology enthusiasts want to keep updating their gadgets. Some are after the new features that are not present in the gadgets they already have. That’s why there are so many websites out there that offer consumer electronics reviews.

Everyone, especially those who frequently buy electronics, can benefit from consumer electronics reviews. These reviews are meant to present to consumers their options.

Going around in a city looking for shops that sell the item just to test them out can be tiring. Smarter buyers are inclined to look for consumer electronics reviews first. Much like traditional reviews, you can find consumer feedback of every form. Just look at the various reviews on amazon for reference. More often than not, the satisfied customers go to these places to leave their remarks. There are literally consumer electronics reviews for every type of gadget on earth, from digital cameras to the most state-of-the-art computer.

Users themselves can be great reviewers, even the youngsters. The parents need to pick up on what their children say to find out what’s wrong with a toy. If a young child can use it well, then an electronics gadget is user friendly enough for anyone to use.

Before buying a gadget or a new modern device, you have to make sure that it’s easy to use and durable. Reviews that compare and contrast many gadgets are also good. These reviews will inform you at once if a gadget is worth buying. If you’d love to buy a new gadget like for example a digital camera for your personal use, but don’t really want to spend too much to buy brand new, you can go for used items. You also have to take note of the brand.

I found this website with many great consumer electronics reviews and camera reviews. Check it out.

Eureka 313A2: Just how Does It Work

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

I selected the Eureka 313A2 right after taking a look at and viewing evaluations. Its quite strong, well created, and never flimsy. I have used it a number of times on our porcelain tile and it actually a great job. The steam lasts approximately 20 minutes prior to needing to refill. I am positive many people recognize you need to vacuum or sweep prior to mopping, but soon after studying some reviews it seems like a lot of people do not. It will take a little getting accustomed to. I wouldn’t declare that its quicker than the usual mop and bucket, but it calls for alot less energy. The cost is good so I am really pleased with my purchase.

Robots At Bargain Prices

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Gone are the days when robots would cost you an arm and a leg. You can now buy robots for a lot less money that are a blast to have around the house. How cheap am I talking about? How about less than $30! These fun bots are loads of fun around the house.

The iDog is a very cheap robot. It is not made to really look or act like a dog though. In fact, it sort of looks like what you would get if you crossed a cell phone with a marshmallow and tossed in a little bit of dog.

This is a music dog robot. The idea is that you feed it with music. When it hears the music, it will do dog stuff like move its ears and blink its lights. It can sway its head to the music and blink its eyes with the music. The manufacturers of the iDog say that this robotic dog will eventually develop a “personality” according to the type of music you feed it.

The “Shooter Bots: The Game” toy consists of a robot tank that tracks people down and a gun that you use to shoot at the tank. The Shooter Bots can track and follow you around the house wherever you go using the gun as a homing device and then shoot you with its red laser ammunition. If you think hiding will be your salvation, you underestimate the darn thing. For instance, if you decide to hide behind the door, the robot can bounce its infrared light off a nearby shiny object to hit you on the rebound.

Then there is the Mini-Roboraptor from WowWee. This robot looks sort of like the raptors from the movie “Jurassic Park”. This robot is pretty cool if you are into autonomous robots. Basically the Roboraptor will walk around a room and curiously check out objects you have in the room. You can set different “aggression” levels so that if you put your hand in front of it, it will make a biting type motion.

Another popular and inexpensive robot is a robotic arm like the Amatron Robotic Arm. It is true that these robots do not really do much, but they are still fun. If you are seriously thinking about building your own robot, then a robotic arm is the perfect first step. Most robotic arm kits come with lots of educational materials, even more so than full body robot kits. You basically learn how to build a robotic arm and the dynamics of how robots move.

This list is of the most popular selling robots for under $30. With the science of robotics continuing to evolve and the price of computer chips dropping, more and more robots will continue to fall under $30 which is great for consumers.

May you enjoy this review of popular selling robots for under $30. For the most popular robot toys at the cheapest prices, see toy robots and for the largest selection of robots at prices you can compare from all major retailers go to buy robot

What Does archos mp3 players Mean?

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Mp3 players are not just a new media device anymore. Archos has built a strong line of media players since they were founded in 1988. archos mp3 players is doing just that, they advance as quickly as technology allows and strive to provide the consumer with products they cannot live without.

One thing that sets Archos mp3 players apart from all the rest is the truth that they are truly much more than a music player. All of Archos current releases are advanced media players with mp3 capacities.

Archos 7

Archos mp3 players have gone into a new realm entirely with the Archos 7. Truly an all in one media player the product is able to movies, mp3, pictures, DVR recordings and internet access.

The Archos mp3 player is better described as an internet media tablet and the unit is amazing.

Features: 160 or 320 GB hard drive Video playback to your TV of 720p Adobe flash 9 video support 320 GB hard drive capacity- 400 movies, 1.9 million (yes million) images and 190,000 songs (are there that many songs out there.) 7 inch TFT LCD screen with 800 x 480 resolution and 16 million colors 39 hour battery life for audio and 10 hours for video

Pros

A faster processor means that even complicated web pages display quickly with not much or no problem. Email display place is great; the product arrives with a native email client that supports pop email like Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail. The very finest part of this feature is the cost, free!

The 7-inch screen is amazing for watching videos; while the unit itself is a touch shorter than the 705, it has the exact same screen size. Colors are more accurate and the images crisper than previous models.

Cons

Weight is a tad heavy, at two pounds this is not a unit that you will be lugging to the gym, of course who needs to watch a movie while working out right.

Overall

This is definitely the future of media players and while there will still be a need for basic Archos mp3 players this one is bound to get some attention and loyal fans. Rumors are circulating that sometime in 2009 Archos will release a 500 GB version of their media players.

For these and another Archos mp3 players check out the great prices of any of these sites: Amazon TigerDirect Jr.com 4allmemory Compusa

Audio Turntables, The History of Vinyl

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Most people younger than 30 have never seen turntables in real life, but perhaps in movies. Some younger ones may not have even seen them appear in a movie. Well, a turntable is something that plays records and vinyl LPs.

The turntable works by using the needle to play through the groove that is on records. The needle is dragged around the record, right through the groove. It is started on the outside, and as it plays, it continues to work it’s way in. The needle on the turntable makes a special electrical current. This pushes the noise on into the speakers so that you can hear it.

Today we take a lot of audio technology for granted, such as stereo sound and high fidelity, but these technologies came from the turntable. During the 1990s, CD players were released and turntables began to go out of style.

CDs became popular during the 80s and most of the music of that day was put on the CDs instead of LPs, which meant that most labels started using the CDs. With the CDs, people were able to quickly find the music they wanted to hear, they were cheap, provided great sound, and were more compact.

Today there still is some appreciation out there for turntables. Analog reproduction is used for records, and it provides sounds that are warmer and sound live. Much of the music out there that was put on records actually never was put into digital formats.

Today most people that own the turntables are nostalgic and enjoy experiencing this form or music and love listening to the old music that just isn’t available on CDs today.

A variety of turntables out there now actually have new enhancements. Digital processors are included on some in the form of chips. This lets you have a very great sound and makes the needles you use quite sensitive.

There are still turntables available that are much like the ones used in the past. You’ll want a turntable that is build much like the ones in the past if you want to experience the old sounds from the 60’s and 70’s eras. You don’t have to have all the new technology for this experience.

Not only do some turntables form the 80s end up playing the records for you, but CDs and cassettes can be played. You can find players that will put the LPs into mp3 formats that you can use with your iPod. This lets you enjoy the sounds that come from a vinyl, but you also get to do this on your own time and without having to actually use the vinyls.

For those that are really nostalgic, there is nothing better than a vinyl and the warm sound that comes from turntables. Many of the turntables with retro designs come from Stanton and Rek-OKut, which will give you the real feel and sound as the old turntables from long ago.

Canon Powershot SD1100IS Camera

Monday, April 13th, 2009

I’ve been using a Canon Powershot I2 IS for the full 3 years now. Very solid digital camera with a great 12X zoom. However, I needed a camera to carry in my pocket. So many times I just didn’t want to drag a large camera with me to parties or events. This camera fills the bill. I now carry it everywhere.

The photos it creates are stunning. The 8 megapixels and 3X zoom produces a picture that you can crop to the point that you get almost the same image as you would have with the 5 megapixels 12X zoom lens. The film feature is great too, even greater than the I2 IS.

The camera feels great in your hand with a solid, superior feeling. If you have used Canon cameras before the menus are very intuitive. I would not have purchased this camera (or any camera for that matter) if it did not have the Picture Stabilization feature. This is especially a must as you get older.

We did close-up photographs on flowers and even hair and eyelashes and it’s impressive what resolution we got with the camera and with such clarity. The camera is accessible to use and is little smooth and compact. I got the one in brown color and it looks different and sohpisticated without searching too overly girly or masculine. Sound quality through the video recording was crisp and images were good and clear and not at all pixelated.

By the way there is an advantage to the Brown color: If you get to use the optical view finder outside, the camera itself makes minimal glare for you eye to see more clearly through the small opening. The color also makes the LCD playback pop. And as a bonus, it truly makes the camera a luxury look, you have to see it in person to value the color.

I recently took it to a monthly card party and everyone went wild over it. So much so that one individual sat right down at the computer and bought one!

If you want a sub-compact, little camera that makes great images, I highly recommend the Canon SD1100IS. Definitely a good buy and well worth the money.

XLR Exposed and the Future of Pro Audio Connectors

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

The XLR plug is the standard for pro audio and video applications. The plug is actually an electrical connector by design. Not unlike the more ubiquitous RCA plug , which used regularly with home audio and video electronics, the XLR connector is different in several important ways.

Originally developed and manufactured by James H. the connector was first called the “Cannon X,” and after the addition of a latch the “Cannon XL” and finally the “XLR” after having a rubber compound added to the connectors.

The most common is the 3-pin XLR3, used almost universally as a balanced audio connector for high quality microphones and connections between equipment. Other configurations are also widely used including the 4-pin XLR4, for Clear-Com and Telex intercom headsets and DC power connection for film and video cameras. The XLR5 connector is the standard for DMX512 digital lighting control and also is used for dual element microphones and dual channel intercom headsets. XLR6 is the standard connection for dual channel intercom belt-packs.

There are several now obsolete configurations with additional pins including the XLR-LNE mains power connector, which was identified by its red insulation and shrouded pins, and has now been replace by the Neutrik PowerCon connector. XLR3 connectors were at one time also used extensively on 2-conductor loudspeaker cables, with either pin 2 or 3 as live (depending on the manufacturer) and pin 1 as the earthly return. However, this turned out to be dangerous to equipment and has since been replaced by the Neutrik Speakon connector.

Female XLR connectors are designed to first connect the ground pin before the other pins make contact as the male XLR connector is inserted. Because the ground connection is made first, before the signal lines make contact, XLR connectors can be inserted and removed without interference from external signals, a typical problem with RCA connections. Even nowadays there is discrepancy between different manufacturers between whether pin 2 is udes as the normal input and pin 3 as the inverting input or vice versa, but this reflects nothing more than their own pre-existing standards before any standards existed. Pin 1 is always the ground, or earthly return pin, and is often connected to the internal shell or case.

Lastly, the XLRM male plug is used for output and the XLRF connector is used for input. So, vocal microphones for example will have the XLRM connector. Signal cables will have XLRM at one end and an XLRF connector at the other. Mixers and other multi-track recording equipment components will have XLRF inputs, and XLRM returns to stage, or out to other components.

XLR connectors are the standard in the professional audio and recording industry. XLR plugs are typically referred to as balanced and help reduce noise interference, especially over long spans. Quality in XLR cables varies greatly depending on the manufacturer, but for professional use please check out Canare, Mogami and Neutrik.

In the last few years, USB microphones that have the ability to connect directly to a PC or MAC have gained popularity. USB microphones are becoming increasingly popular as studio microphones, while live stage mics continue to use the standard XLR connectors.

Canon SD770IS

Friday, April 10th, 2009

I bought the Canon SD770IS to substitute my PowerShot A95. A few years ago, I purchased a Digital Elph for my daughter and found myself using that small and light camera, instead of my A95. Due to the advancements in technology, it was time to upgrade.

The most important feature in looking for a replacement was the small size and the use of a rechargeable battery. Resolution was less of a deal as the A95, with only five Mpixels, produced clear pictures. The most notable improvement, even over the previous Elph, was in the increased speed of all functions including boot up and picture recording.

Picture quality is amazing and the color balance and metering is excellent. If you now own a Canon digital camera and you are thinking of buying a new one, the basic navigation stays mainly identical, so that part will be familiar to you. Access to the camera’s shooting styles use menus instead than of a physical dial as on the A95.

The screen is fairly large, well enlightened and easy to view, even in bright light. Finally, the most important condition with digital picture taking should be image quality and ease of use. I have years of experience with manual SLR film cameras and similar point and shoots, and this model fits perfectly for true “turn it on and shoot” picture taking. Images are clear and vivid with solid detail and vibrant color.

The luminosity meter does a great job of assessing the settings and selecting the best possible combination of the shutter speed and aperture.

A high capacity (SDHC) storage card will hold an insane amount of photographs even at the highest resolution. Uploading photos to a PC or Mac is easy with either the supplied software or Apple’s iPhoto software, which works seamlessly with the camera. I would recommend both a high capacity SD card and the optional leather case to protect the camera, especially if dropped.

This camera just blows me away. It makes astonishing pictures in full-auto mode. In situations where full-auto doesn’t quite do the job as good as possible, this camera lets you change of ISO settings, light balance, focus method, and tons of other factors.

I extremely recommend this camera for someone looking for an easy-to-use, lightweight, little and good digital camera. It’s simply a marvellous camera at a great price.

Global Positioning Systems: Obvious Benefits

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

If you’ve been in the market for a car, truck, or SUV recently, no doubt you’ve seen the vast number of vehicles sporting shiny new auto global positioning systems (GPS) as part of an package upgrade. These systems are invaluable when you find yourself stuck in slow-moving traffic or when roads are closing due to nasty weather or traffic pile ups. They also come in equally handy when faced with every day driving.

I have absolutely no regrets about purchasing a Global Positioning System (GPS). While I can’t promise that you will love your GPS as much as I love mine (all systems are not created equal), I can assure you that your driving, particularly on long road trips, will go much more smoothly with one.

On the other end of the spectrum however, you have people who could get helplessly lost and flustered finding their way out of the driveway on dark and moonless nights. Using GPS is like having an extra pair of eyes. While you may not get the top of the line system that has the ability to help you parallel park your car, you may get one that is nice enough to help you figure out where you are and where you’re going. That alone makes the purchase money well spent.

While having a GPS system installed in your vehicle is great when you find yourself lost in the woods, a handheld GPS device can also help you find alternate routes when traffic is busy on your traditional drive to the grocery store. They can help you avoid roads that have been closed due to maintenance, or even help you find a quick way around road work that is being performed along your route. These devices can also help you find shorter routes to events that you may not have been aware existed before.

Global positioning systems aren’t commanding as high a price as they brought in a mere two years ago. With the increase in demand and availability, this transportation convenience is becoming much more affordable.

If you never use this system and only get it because it looks cool, then you definitely are not getting your money’s worth. Technology is only good when it’s useful to someone. Unused, it is assisting no one and is essentially a waste of money.
