King of Watches and Watch of Kings - Patek Philippe

    Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Out of all watchmakers the Swiss are known for the best quality watches in the world. And while there are many brands among them, one stands out from the crowd with the most luxurious and expensive watches.

Patek Philippe watches have a long history that is reaching year 1839. A Polish watchmaker Antoni Norbert Patek started making watches in Geneva with his friend Franciszek Czapek. In 1844 their ways separated and in 1845 Patek joined the French watchmaker Adrien Philippe. They’ve began making wristwatches and the first Patek Philippe watch has seen the light in 1868.

Patek Philippe is famous for the most expensive watch, auctioned for $11 million dollars in 1999. The watch originally created for Henry Graves Jr. in 1933. The most recent expensive watch was made in April 2008, when the platinum Patek Philippe tourbillon wristwatch was sold at Hong Kong Sotheby’s for $1.49 million.

These watches are also known for their royal owners. Patek Philippe had a great demand among the collectors and the watches meant high social status and wealth. Since Queen Victoria’s reign, these watches were owned by monarchs, popes, political leaders and rulers.

In 1989 Patek Philippe created one of the most complicated mechanical watches in the world, Calibre 89. The watch holds 33 complications including the date of Easter, a thermometer, time of sunrise, equation of time and more.

The watches are the most expensive luxury watches even today and they come in modern models. They still are a sign of wealth and are bought by the elite. However, despite their price, they are available to anyone.

They attract not only collectors but anyone who has spare $40 thousands and wants to get a watch to show off for any occasion. No doubt, Patek Philippe is something to be proud of having.

    Finding Fish

    Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

For the avid fisherman, a fish finder is a wonderful tool for you to take with you on your expeditions out on the ocean. The fish finder that you choose can greatly increase your odds of finding and catching all the fish that you want when you are fishing for sport or even as a commercial fisherman.

Most importantly, your job as a fisherman, whether you’re amateur or professional, is to find out where the fish are so that you can catch them. Some people, of course, are naturals at this and just know where to look automatically. Still, for the rest of us, we need some help. That’s where a fish finder comes in. Fish finders are technology that was originally designed for the military, so that they could find submarines that were camping out, so to speak, on the bottom of the ocean floor and therefore hiding from them. Today, this technology is available to you so that you can find the fish you’re looking to catch. In turn, you’ll be a much better and more successful fisherman.

This technology uses sonar to “read” the area that exists between your boat and the ocean floor, as well as any objects or obstacles in between. Most of the time, these “obstacles” are actually fish. The fish finders of today are much more sophisticated than they were originally for military use. In fact, today’s modern fish finder will display the information in map format so that you can tell exactly where the fish are located in proximity to the ocean floor.

The fish finder is a great “catch” for commercial fisherman whose livelihood depends upon the number of fish they can catch. However, they’re also a great find for amateur sportsmen who simply want to find more fish every time he or she throws out a line. A fish finder is simply something you can use so that you can get the best results possible when you go fishing. It’s also wonderful to have if you take others fishing with you, because you can simply take guests where the fish are, thereby making sure that your guests are successful in their fishing expeditions, too. In this way, you can truly entertain your guests in the best way possible.

As time goes on, fish finders will only get better as technology improves. In fact, it’s expected that fish finders will eventually be basically “foolproof.” It can be expensive to buy a fish finder, especially if it’s an expensive and advanced model, but pretty soon, everyone’s going to have some type of fish finder on his or her boat. Among them are handheld models that you can take with you wherever you go (even not on your own boat).

Because there are many fish finders on the market, it’s easy for you to choose the one that best meets your needs. If you just fish occasionally for fun, you don’t need a terribly expensive, pricey model. However, if you fish for a living and your ability to make that living depends upon your ability to find fish, then you’ll need a much more expensive model — but it will be well worth the price. Check out the wide number of models on the market and find one that’s just right for you.

    auto navigation systems,

    Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

You should know the facts about the GPS system. Here it is:

The Global Positioning System or the GPS is a system based on satellite for navigation which is made up of 24 satellites networked together and placed in orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. The US intended this system for military applications only and the Department of Defense handled its management. In the 1980s, the US approved the petition that the system also be made available for civilians and since then, it has been used around the world 24 hours a day without subscription fees and set up charges.

Satellite navigation dates back a lot longer than many people realize. The principles behind SatNav were first tested back in 1967, but it took nearly 30 years before the NavStar GPS System first began operation as a military application in the mid 1990s. Civilian use of GPS navigation was made available soon after the military launch, but the initial costs of using the system were very high, and required ongoing subscriptions to be paid. The first people who took advantage of GPS were pilots, and surveyors, who needed to be able to measure distances with pinpoint accuracy. In the early days , an affordable GPS auto navigation system was out of reach for the average car owner.

After some time, the government made a way to provide it to people at a reasonably low cost. Because of this change in installation costs, more and more people from all over the world took advantage of this chance, giving them enough information for whatever travel plans they have, whether for personal or for business purposes.

Do not think that auto navigation systems are application used only by those who do extensive travels. But the truth is, even people, who spend many hours in their car, truck, or SUV also need the benefits from an automobile navigation system or any device of the same value. Most prospect users like you might just be thinking of one concern. And that is the kind of system that will best suit the certain navigation you really need. What you need to know are the different auto navigation systems and determine which of these suites your needs more.

Here are some of the available auto navigations systems in the market:

    1. Stand-alone auto navigation system Stand-alone navigation systems provide the most thorough and complete mapping utilities.

    2. Multipurpose Handheld Navigation Devices.

    2. Multipurpose Handheld Navigation Devices.

Unlike the stand-alone system, this multi-purpose navigation device does not provide full detailed directions but it has other benefits not found in the former device.

If you already have your Palm or laptop devices and you often bring them with you while traveling, better just turn them into a navigation system.

Below are some of the ways on how you can use the auto navigation system and GPS technology during your every travel:

Consider these 2 basic suggestions on how you can make your travel less time-consuming with the auto navigation system and GPS technology:

    1. Make a thorough plan for your trip. It is essential that you plan ahead of time for any trips. This way you will know what you would need along the way.

Goodbye to the days when the one-hour-drive was multiplied into more number of driving hours because there was no direction to take. And not very long, gas tanks ran out of fumes and cars generally got stranded in the middle of unknown dusty roads.

The days of long hours of driving are now over and there is no need to spend so much time and money for gas and fuels just to reach your desired places. You can now save more through this auto navigation system and GPS technology.

People are now free to travel anywhere they want to using the auto navigation system or GPS because the navigation already made a way to ease up the travel. With the help of the GPS, people can now visit far places without worrying of directions and travel guides, and since there are lots of route options as directed by the auto navigation system, people would not need to take long trips just to reach the place they want.
