3 Quick And Easy Kids Crafts For Christmas

    Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Christmas ornament crafts can be fun and very, very easy. Spending time together as a family creating wonderfully fun Christmas ornaments is a great way to make memories with your little ones and decorate the house, tree, and wreath at the same time! Try a couple simple projects like these to start the fun!

Candy Cane Reindeer: One of the most fun and fast traditional Christmas ornament crafts for the season is this cute little googly eye reindeer. You’ll need some candy canes, brown pipe cleaners, small googly eyes, small red pompoms, thin ribbon, and a small jingle bell.

To assemble, take the brown pipe cleaner and twist it forming a V shape under the hook of the candy cane bending the pipe cleaner around into the shape of antlers. Glue the googly eyes onto the candy cane “face.” Glue a red pom pom on the candy cane for a nose. Tie the thin ribbon around your reindeer’s neck and string the jingle bell on for the final touch! These are perfect little ornaments for your Christmas tree or wreath.

Noodles Wreath: Noodles, or pasta, is a great material to work with. It’s inexpensive and paints up very well. You’ll need some noodles of various shapes and sizes, some sturdy paper plates, some craft glue, poster paint or craft spray paint, and ribbon or other embellishments to decorate the wreath.

Create the wreath form by cutting out the middle of the paper plate. Start gluing the pasta onto the wreath form trying to cover as much of the plate as possible. Take whatever paint you have chosen and carefully paint the pasta and let it dry. Then, tie a pretty bow and glue it to your wreath and hang any other ornaments you might like on your completed wreath. Make a few more so everyone in the family gets to display their own creation!

Cinnamon Cookie Cutter Ornaments: These pretty little ornaments are not only a sweet smelling ornament, but they are a great way to keep little ones busy and happy. You’ll need the following: 1 cup of ground cinnamon, 4 tablespoons of white craft glue, a little less than 1 cup of water, but you might need more. To get set up you’ll need to have a cookie sheet, toothpicks or straws to make a hole, some ribbon, and of course, cookie cutters.

Mix all your ingredients in a big bowl, pouring only some of the water in, then mixing and adding more water if you need in order to get the dough like sugar cookie dough. Put it in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Sprinkle a little cinnamon on a cutting board and knead the dough with your hands until it’s nice and smooth. Then use a pastry roller and roll the dough out evenly until about 1/4 inch thick. Cut out your shapes and poke a hole in the top for a hanger. Put your shapes on a cookie sheet and set in a warm oven for about 2 hours. Remove, cool, and tie pretty ribbons through the holes. Now you can give them as gifts or hang them from your own tree.

You’ll find there are many simple Christmas ornament crafts for kids to make for every age group. When you’re looking at your little ones waiting with great expectation for the big day to come, give them a fun project to keep their hands and minds busy, and keep a smile on their face!

This review delves into what exactly this software provides to the user and assesses whether it is it offers value for money when compared with other methods of making beats beat online.

A music sequencer that can export mp3 files, Sonic Producer is a versatile beat maker tool. It also includes tutorials on music production, various keyboards. studios as well as tutorials on how the Sonic Producer software should be used. These include lessons on Logic, ProTools, software instruments, keyboards and much else besides. You also have the facility to download your instrumentals and beats so that you have a permanent record of your compositions.

Trying to assess the performance of Sonic Producer is always going to be somewhat subjective. Do you compare Sonic Producer with other professional grade consoles and software or is that just an unfair comparison? As professional consoles will always have the advantage over Sonic Producer, this review will focus on how it compares with other online software which makes beats online. When comparing ‘like with like,’ Sonic Producer comes out very well indeed. A separate volume control is provided for each of the sixteen tracks in the music sequencer. Also the number of beats per minute can be controlled which dictates the tempo of the music. There is also a virtual keyboard integrated along with drum pads. It is when Sonic Producer is compared against other beat maker software that it comes into it’s own and proves that it’s features are indeed extensive.

The sample library is definitely a strong part of the Sonic Producer package. Console beat making software, and to a lesser extent other software for making beats, are known for having sample and sound libraries of limited variety and variable quality. Sonic Producer has an extensive sample library, consisting of thousands of music samples of very high quality. Sonic Producer works on all computers and operating systems. It does not matter if you have a PC, Mac or other platform. If you have any troubles using the sequencer, drum machine, playing videos or entering the members area, simply send their staff an email and they should be able to help you.

Sonic Producer is very affordable when compared with other beat maker software on the market. The other key point is that although the Sonic Producer System is accessed through a membership site, monthly payments do not apply. Some online sites, however, charge their users on a monthly or yearly basis to keep using their software.

Sonic Producer is currently offering a lifetime subscription to their online beat making software for only $29.95. In summary, Sonic Producer’s good functionality, extensive sample and sound library and at a very affordable price, should make it the number one choice for any young or developing musician interested in using a beat maker online.

Good and Bad of Dog Management Equipment

    Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Periodically the distinction between management and restraint is lost. Using commands and hand gestures, with harnesses or food rewards, to stimulate wanted behavior is discipline. Using choke or shock collars, electronic boundaries and related devices is for control of unwanted behaviors.

Restraint/constraint isn’t needfully a negative factor. Dogs by nature want and look for social continuity in which someone is the alpha (leader); and in any human-dog pair the person has to take that position. To relinquish your role as the leader (alpha) will mean destruction of belongings, potentially unhealthy circumstances for other pets and people, human conflict and an unstable dog. The question is how best to acquire compliance from your dog.

Choke collars were conceived to help in getting control. Dogs are like humans in that each has their own character and traits. Some are, as a result, more assertive or slower to learn. For ones that don’t react positively to a conventional leather or nylon collar, a metal choke collar can supply additional deterrence to tugging and leaping.

The potential drawback is that choke collars, when used clumsily - all too simple to do - can give you results you didn’t want and also be dangerous. Choke collars fit only one way and when suitably fitted should make allowance for a one to three fingers space between the neck and the collar - three for larger dogs, one for smaller. Ordinarily a collar two inches longer than the measurment around the neck will suffice.

Used inappropriately, by-the-way, choke collars can chafe the skin - resulting in wounds that scratching will make worse. They can also inadvertently compress the trachea. A quick jerk and then loose lead isn’t harmful, however in accordance with its purpose it does create unpleasant pressure. But for dogs that persist in trying to resist the leash this device may not be enough to do the job. Generally, it is not approved of, especially for smaller dogs.

Prong collars are not as hazardous as they appear, but - from this handler’s prospective - have almost no positive properties. The only good aspect of this devices’ design is their limited diameter - they can only close down so far. Nonetheless, a critter with such an unyielding proclivity to pull that prongs are meaningless must have more than a quick fix consisting of choking and ‘pronging’. That kind of dog most likely needs to have tenacious and persistent behavior modification training.

Halter collars, which envelop the neck and the muzzle, but don’t stop panting or prohibit drinking and eating can give further constraint. The drawback is they don’t inhibit biting if that’s an issue. If biting is not a problem an everyday tether and collar, or maybe a chest halter might be preferable.

For assistance with those dogs that carry on in barking long after the purpose of barking is gone, consider an electronic No-barking collar. Barking is an ordinary and natural response to possible menacing events and is also used to signal distress and gain attention when one becomes isolated from the communal pack. But, for reasons we don’t completely understand, some animals bark continuously or at the drop of a hat.

Electronic collars that prohibit barking come in two forms: noise stimulus and shock stimulus. Noise collars generate a brief, unpleasant sound that distracts and tends to discourage continual barking.

Shock collars generate a quick but discomforting electronic shock that can be sustained during lengthy or recurring barking. Evenhanded and objective experimentation to discover their effectiveness divulge mixed conclusions - they work with some dogs and not others. On the other hand, as with prong collars, any dog in need of one would profit if, in addition, he had precise, professional training using behavior modification methods.

Now and then quick fixes are appealing and worthwhile… until they become replacements for more constructive (both to trainer and dog) long-term management. Making the effort to understand how to access your dog’s focused attention and cooperativeness without disproportionate reliance on control equipment is better. The usual effect is happier trainers and more well adjusted dogs.

Build Your Own Hovercraft: Principles to Know Behind It

    Thursday, September 17th, 2009

The hovercraft is probably one of the brilliant inventions of all time. It’s a product of ingenuity. This machine worked using the principles of applied physics and engineering. What’s more interesting is you can build your own hovercraft all by yourself. That is correct. You can do it in your home.

A hovercraft is a vehicle lifted by air cushion. To make this happen, there is a certain amount of pressure to be made. Science will tell you that air is a form of fluid. Its molecules behave unpredictably. When you build your own hovercraft, it’s good to understand the control of air flow underneath it. These are the basic principles:

Pressurized Air - The mechanics of a hovercraft involves mainly of air of course. You need to pressurize that air and send it to the right channel to create the cushion below. To do that, you need to get an abundant supply of its molecules. The solution is a fan. Any device that produces air pressure such as a vacuum cleaner will do too.

The Plane - Next thing to have is a board or ply wood. This is for you to sit on. Another purpose for the board is the help distribute air beneath it surface. With the right velocity, air should be able to create a film or layer below. When that happens, pressure is building up. To build your own hovercraft, you have to increase that pressure.

Hovercraft’s Velocity - In fluid mechanics, velocity of fluid increases when an orifice opening is decreased. This is evident in how a fire hose works. This concept is also applied in your homemade hovercraft. You have to simulate the pressure increase by limiting the passage of air flow and channel it through a hole in the ply wood.

The Skirt - When the flow of air is now controlled, it can build a strong layer of air beneath the ply wood. This thin layer of air bearing should also be regulated. A heavy plastic sheet is wrapped around the perimeter of the board. This is called the skirt. This helps in building the air cushion below. It traps the air and only allows a little amount released below it. If you build your own hovercraft, t is important that this concept is understood.

The Thrust - Now you got the board lifted, it’s time to get your ply wood to move forward. To do this, you need thrust. However, it could also be fun to just have someone push you while you’re sitting on the board. Or you may have a rope tied to the front and have someone tag you around. Can you imagine that? Since this is a homemade hovercraft, might as well improvise with fun creatively as well.

Your improvised hovercraft should be as exciting as it is when it’s done. Your friends will surely like it. You can use it for your science project in school. You’ll be the envy of every kid in school. They’d think you have the mind of a scientist. Well, you do. And all it took is to know some principles of physics. So what are you waiting for? Build your own hovercraft now.

Know how to draw your homemade hovercraft plan now. Use the simple instruction to build your own hovercraft at home.

The History of Radio Flyer Wagons

    Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

For many years, kids have loved Radio Flyer wagons, and they have been on birthday and Christmas lists for many kids over the year. For many children this wagon has become a place to imagine and come up with all kinds of adventures. Of course while you may be familiar with this toy, you may not know much about the history of these unique wagons.

Believe it or not, it was an Italian immigrant that was behind the Radio Flyer wagons. His name was Antonio Pasin, and he had the idea himself. Being a good wood worker and quite determined he began working in New York City. Soon he had enough money to buy the tools he needed to have a workshop of his own. He started building these little toy wagons and he would sell them.

Decades later he would start producing more of the wagons. He wanted to make wagons that would work for any child and they began to develop more than just wood wagons. They started making steel wagons, which were given the name, Radio Flyer wagons. He named them this because of the invention of the radio and his amazement with the concept of flight.

Later Pasin would bring the Radio Flyer wagons to the Chicago World’s Fair. The wagons became quite popular and made Pasin and his wagons very famous. They actually became the most well known manufacturers of these types of wagons and even years later these wagons are still some of the most popular, and even more models have been added to their line up.

Still today Radio Flyer wagons are very popular and the company still makes millions each year. Kids still love the Radio Flyer and have great adventures in these wagons. So it is easy to see why so many children yet today want to have one of these exciting wagons that have been around for so many years.
