Toned Abs - Exercises To Help You Lose Belly Fat

    Monday, April 13th, 2009

An increasing number of people around the world are becoming obese because of the proliferation of fast food. The availability of delicious, calorie-loaded western food has in fact caused roughly 65% of people in North America and Western Europe to become obese.

The first mistake people do in their attempts to lose belly fat and get toned abs is doing ab isolation exercises. Although common-sense may make sit-ups and crunches seem effective in isolating belly fat, getting a lean, flat abdomen takes much more than that.

Exercises that isolate the muscles of the abdomen are not totally useless of course- they serve to strengthen and develop the muscle tissue under the stubborn layer of belly fat. The only way to lose belly fat and get really toned abs however is to do exercises designed for fast body fat burn.

Studies have proven cardiovascular exercise that involves the whole body is most effective in losing excess body fat. The more muscles involved in movement, the more calories burned from stored fat. Eliminate enough body fat and that flabby belly disappears resulting in nicely toned abs.

The benefits of doing cardiovascular exercises are several. Aside from burning fat fast, the heart and lungs are also strengthened- improving endurance and lowering high blood pressure. Intense aerobic exercise also puts the body’s metabolic rate in high gear- meaning you still burn calories hours after you’ve finished exercising.

A higher metabolism means a better ability of the body to avoid storing body fat because this means more calories burned. The key to weight loss and toned abs is burning more calories than we consume in a day.

Muscle building resistance exercises can also help fight body fat by enabling us to burn more calories. Muscles burn calories even while were not using them. The more muscular a person is therefore, the less time he has to spend in the gym working out.

Choosing cardio exercises that you won’t get bored with can spell success or failure in your quest for lean, nicely toned abs. The more repetitive and boring your workouts, the easier it will be for you to get bored with them. Boredom is the main reason why people don’t exercise consistently- prolonging the agony of having a flabby belly.

Avoid Fad Diets Like Plague ” They’re Nothing But Trouble

    Monday, April 13th, 2009

It’s not surprising that many people wonder why fad diets are bad when they seem to get results. You’ll find many sites on the internet claiming significant weight loss in just a few days.

That is always temporary. It’s usually 90% water which will be put straight back on as soon as your body rehydrates, which it must do or else you’ll suffer severe health problems or die.

We also have over hyped fad diets that are not crash diets which push you to the extremes. However, these do not help you lose fat. They only help you lose money.

Some are good nutrition plans, though. But they cost you money while you can get the information from your doctor for free. Or those plans are too hard to get along with, so many folks give up after a week or two.

    The bad of fad diets

    1. If a diet program promises you quick and easy weight loss, it’s often based on eating certain types of food. However, consuming only some kinds of food will prevent you from getting a balanced diet.

These programs usually recommend supplements. The problem here is most of the times, the supplements they offer can’t be absorbed into the body unless you eat foods that are not allowed by the programs themselves. If you’re faithful enough to stick to your diet for several weeks, you may notice some changes, feel tired and weak due to nutritional deficiency.

    2. Many fad diets are boring or ultra-strict. Fad diets that you can’t enjoy will put you back to your old habits. For example, you diet for 2 days, can’t stand what you have to eat, crave something else and, wallah, you have fallen off the train to weight loss. Then lots of people blame themselves for not losing weight.

    3. Most fad diets do not follow recommendations of the American Heart Association and similar bodies. The promoters may argue that you’ll just follow the diet for a short time. But if you do not reach your desired weight in that time, then what? You either continue with a plan that is not good for your health, or stop and probably gain back what you’ve lost.

    4. Fad diets, unfortunately, do not include enough consumption of fruits and vegetables in your weight loss plan, nor do they allow you to consume what your body needs.

    5. Fad diets are nothing but a temporary solution which does not produce permanent results. Permanent results need a permanent solution.

Yo-yo fad diets only make your weight fluctuate. And in some cases, you may end up gaining more weight than you’ve lost. The up-and-down weight issue hurts not only your health but also your self-esteem.

Publicity materials probably bring you hopes for a couple of days, but over time you’ll come to find out that what they’re offering will not last a lifetime. The best way to lose weight is nothing fancy - eat healthy foods without overeating and exercise regularly. Stay away from fad diets if you don’t want to waste your time and money.

Burn Fat Fast with the Best Cardio Exercises

    Monday, April 13th, 2009

In order for cardio exercises to work, we need to understand how they work. A cardio exercise program allows the body to burn off fat. But we’ve always wondered what is the best cardio exercise that burns the most fat. Is it high intensity, or low?

Scientists first discovered that during intensive exercises, the body burns glycogen, which is a form of carbohydrates that are stored in the liver and muscles for energy. During low intensity exercises, the body will burn a lot of fat.

Unfortunately, researchers were not completely correct. To this day, there are more overweight people than ever though they exercise with low intensity. Why is it?

Scientists, however, were correct when it came to low impact cardio exercises. A low impact exercise, like walking or swimming, burns more fat. But if we perform a high impact exercise, the body will burn calories, and lots of them. These calories come not only from glycogen but also from fat.

What’s more, when your glycogen level becomes low, carbohydrates from food will be turned into glycogen for storage. They’ll not be converted to body fat even when left unused.

High intensity cardio exercise will juice up our metabolism even after we have completed our workout. What this means is that the body will continue to burn body fat hours after we have left the gym.

However, this is not the case with low impact cardio exercise which will not boost your metabolism that long. In short, chances are high intensity training helps burn more body fat than low.

In order to utilize both low and high impact cardio exercises, we need to put them together in a routine. For example, walk for about 5 minutes, then power walk (almost jog) for the same amount of time.

Then, walk briskly again until we have caught our breath and then sprint for a minute before we walk again. From this point, simply alternate running and walking for the next 15 minutes until we are done. If you don’t like walking, do the same with a cardio exercise machine.

What’s best about cardio is the more we do it, the more energy we’ll have. Cardio will help us burn calories, although it’s more useful for keeping our energy levels high.

For all newbies, be persistent and pace yourself, one step at a time. Be careful or you’ll get burned out! It is also important to track your progress to see how well you have been doing.

    Toned Abs, Nicer Clothes

    Monday, April 13th, 2009

The fast-food culture people in the Western countries have combined with the hectic schedules that leave little room for daily exercise are causing more and more people to fall victim to obesity. Recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention puts the percentage of overweight Americans at 66% and almost half that number already obese.

Life as we know it today is indeed on a faster track and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find time to work-out the extra calories we get from the fast, convenient but high-calorie food we dine on. As a result, a lot of folks are forced to wear loose slacks with elastic waists- not really considered avante garde in these times.

Keeping our weight down through constant exercise is the fastest way to trim the inches around our bellies and fit in those favorite pair of denims exiled deep in our closet. True that maintaining a regular workout regimen seems impossible with our hectic schedules, but with the myriad of benefits we get through regular exercise it’s ridiculous not to.

Regular exercise not only gives us the obvious benefits of toned abs and a lighter, better-looking physique. Making it a point to work-out everyday lowers blood pressure and significantly lowers the risk of cancer, diabetes, and hypertension while boosting our immune system.

Regular exercise is also a perfect stress reliever- quite useful in these financially hard times. Hypertension brought about by too much stress is one of the major causes of death right now in the world’s top urban centers. Aside from lengthening our lives, working-out and getting lean will give us a more positive outlook because of endorphins released by the brain after intense activity. Remember- positivity begets productivity and happiness.

Tight, toned abs, a sculpted physique and stress release- all this can be gained with the proper exercise regimen. Even people that have less than an hour a day to exercise can reap the benefits by maximizing their aerobic and strength-building exercises.

Though aerobic exercises done for extended periods have been proven to be the best for burning body fat without sacrificing glycogen needed by the muscles, most people don’t have enough time to perform them each day. High intensity cardio and anaerobic exercises can be effective ways to lose weight as well.

Fact: Fat burn doesn’t occur until after the first 10-15 minutes of conventional aerobic exercise. The heart rate and metabolism need to reach a certain point for our bodies to start burning energy from calories. Starting cardio sessions at higher intensity will jump-start our metabolism- resulting in immediate fat burn. Shortening rest periods in between weight-lifting sets will also increase our heart rate during anaerobic workouts- allowing us to get the benefits of cardio while building muscle.

7 Easy Tips to Kiss Your Belly Fat Goodbye for Life

    Sunday, April 12th, 2009

Do you want to lose fat? Have you tried different diets and failed consistently? If you answered yes to these questions, you are in good company. There are a lot of people who have been trying fat loss diets over the years and have failed. The reason they have not succeeded is that they used gimmicks and lose-weight-fast diets that do more damage than good. Here are some sensible things to keep in mind when you try to lose weight.

    1. Go easy on the tea and coffee. They are pretty much harmless if you don’t add a lot of cream and sugar to them. It is the cream and sugar that becomes fattening. Think of it this way, when you have a cup of coffee or tea with cream and two cubes of sugar, you are essentially eating a piece of chocolate cake every time.

    2. Attempt to adhere to black coffee and tea. They may really be beneficial for you. But personally I’d like to suggest tea instead of coffee. The caffeine in the coffee isn’t actually good for you since it will make you irritable.

    3. Calculate the calories when you eat, however do not overdo it. It is a sound idea to know the calories that most food items contain. Whenever it’s a packed thing then the label is certain to give the calories it has.

    4. Make certain to burn off those extra energy by the end of the week. When you feel that you’ve eaten more energy than you should have within the week, this occurs you know, then be sure that you work away these additional energy by the end of the week.

    5. Stay away from fried things. Fried things are an absolute no-no. The more fried things that you avoid, the lesser weight you will gain. Fried things are called so because they are fried in oil or fat. And even if the external oil is drained away, there is still a lot of hidden oil in it so stay away from it.

    6. Don’t skip meals. You should have, at the very least, three meals a day, but preferably five small meals. This will keep you from getting hungry during the day and overeating out of starvation.

    7. Fresh veggies are better than canned or cooked veggies. Try to have your veggies uncooked. If you cook them, you’re indeed taking out nearly 50% the vitamins in them. And canned veggies also are processed and not nearly half as healthy as fresh veggies. Whenever you purchase your veggies it would be good to find out if the label states that it’s pesticide free.

Ab Workout - Teaching Youngsters How To Exercise Properly

    Sunday, April 12th, 2009

Include combating childhood obesity in your ab workout arsenal as childhood obesity is the leading cause of adult abdominal obesity. Children today have lost the balance between the energy they take in and the energy they expend, which is key to a healthy weight. They are faced with more food choices, more processed foods and large food portions. And modern man has engineered physical activity out of our children’s lives, replacing it with remote controls, computer and video games. As a result, childhood obesity is on the rise.

Child obesity is mostly caused by a ’sitting’ lifestyle. Not enough physical movements throughout the day and too much time allotted to watching television and gaming or even just internet surfing leads to the formation of abdominal fat around the inner organs, which makes the stomach hard and protrude.

It is more dangerous to have a lot of fat in the abdominal area than in the thighs, hips and butt because abdominal fat actually enters the bloodstream and wreaks havoc on the liver, blood fats, blood pressure and blood vessels. The result is an increased risk of heart disease with every increase in waist measurement. Sugar metabolism is also slowed down because the body’s insulin doesn’t function as well as it should.

Proper exercise is the best way to correct these health risks because exercise can melt away abdominal fat. And exercise can be something as regular as walking and playing or running in the park. Anything that gets you moving. Two to three times a week for at least 30 minutes each time greatly decreases the incidence of abdominal obesity in children. Parents can get their kids playing outdoors more and participating in organized sports instead of leaving them lounging in front of the television and computer or gaming consoles all day.

Physical education programs in schools can offer more interesting activities like dance, martial arts, team sports and even hiking to inspire more student participation.

The community-at-large (including restaurants and schools) can offer smaller food portions and better food choices, meaning foods lower in fat and sugar and higher in complex carbs, protein and fiber. Parents need to be conscious of the example they’re setting and so have to serve well-balanced, nutritious meals at home and even whien packing lunches.

It is a sad fact that the popularity of gaming is directly related to an increase in childhood obesity. A side effect of technological times is a lowered interest in playing outdoors. This, coupled with the bombardment of television shows and too much internet surfing takes youngsters away from ‘exercising’.

However, teaching youngsters how to exercise properly as part of their ab workout program can still be done. It is never too late to teach them how to enjoy physical activities on a daily basis, to choose better quality foods and to impart the wisdom of portion downsizing. In these tougher economic times, doing all this can actually help you save more than you know.
