Enjoyable Fishing For Professionals As Well As New Comers

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

The United States is full of great fish to catch. Between the rivers, lakes, ponds, and coastal regions, everybody has something they can look forward to catching. Unfortunately, the only fish people seem to want to go after are large mouth bass and trout. This isn’t to say that I don’t enjoy trout fishing and bass fishing, I just think that people should be taking advantage of all the great fish out there.

I wrote this article to talk about a few of the other fish that anglers should set their sites to. I’ll talk about fish that both amateurs and experts can have fun fishing for.

One of the most exciting fish to catch after trout and bass is catfish. You’ll find that catfish fishing is easy since you don’t have to worry about throwing out a great bait presentation. The key to fishing for catfish is to use bait that smells awful. Because of the catfish’s strong sense of smell, they mostly hunt by scent, so the smellier the bait, the more catfish you’ll catch. These fish aren’t hard to find and can be very exhilarating to pull in.

Pike is another fantastic fish to go fishing for. Pike fishing is great for people that don’t have access to deep lakes and rivers. The reason for this is that pike are easily found in shallow ponds and lakes. These fish can usually be found lurking around thick brush and underneath logs and fallen trees. I love how impressive some of these fish look when taken out of the water. They are very long so it makes them look massively big.

Many people have also overlooked the sunfish. Most people conjure up images of tiny fish swimming around in an old polluted creek when they think of sunfish. However, large sunfish like bluegill and carp can get really big and really put up a nice fight. Some people even eat the carp and bluegill that they catch.

Spring and summer is the best time to go bluegill fishing in shallow bodies of water. When these fish are mating, they tend to want to eat a lot more. Fish during this time period and you will be in a position to drop almost anything in the water and they’ll latch on like its the greatest meal they’ve ever seen.

Carp can be a bit more challenging to catch. They have a tendency to want to occupy deeper waters and will get scared easily. What this means is you’ll have to be a bit craftier with your bait presentation. Websites like http://www.guide-to-fishing.com can help give you advice on how to present your bait so that you won’t scare your carp away.

Some Elementary Advice On Throwing Knives For Newbies

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

Throwing knives should be addressed with caution, especially if you are initially learning to toss them safely and effectively. This tends to ensure that you prevent injuring your self or others that could be close to you.

Being acutely aware of your surrounding will help in making sure that anyone such as children and pets will not be near your throwing target. It is a good idea to set up some kind of border around your throwing area so that no one can get inside of it and get hurt. Rope or string works well for this. That way a ricocheting knife will not fly and hit anyone close by.

One cool thing you can do to throwing knives that have sharp edges is to wrap some electrical tape around them. Then you can throw your knives by the blade and not risk getting cut by them.

If other people are watching you throw or want to throw themselves, you’ll really want to be careful so they don’t get hurt.

To start, six to eight feet is a good approximate distance to throw from. A distance such as this will give the knife time to rotate just one half turn in the air before it gets to the target. When the knife is directly parallel with the ground when it sticks in your target you know the distance to the target is correct. Simply adjust your distance to the target if the handle ends up being high or low.

Then you can use math to find the right distance to get in more rotations of the knife. You can multiply to get three or more rotations before the knife hits the target.

How your throwing knives hit the target will be affected by a lot of small, seemingly inconsequential things. For instance, a knife that has a heavy handle will be easier to throw by holding its blade. And it’s easier to throw a blade heavy knife by its handle.

A heavier knife is usually a lot better for throwing longer distances. The extra weight will make the knife fly further through air without straining your arm trying to throw it very it a very far distance. But a knife that is lighter will generally be better for throwing short distances.

When throwing knives you are usually better off trying not to snap your wrist as you throw. This is because it will be difficult to snap it the same way every single time. And that will make it hard to develop a consistent and accurate throw. Try to keep your wrist locked instead of snapping your wrist.

Fatigue in your arm can set in after a while of throwing knives. This may cause you to try to snap your wrist to compensate for your tiredness. Better to then take a break until later when you are feeling stronger. That way your practice will be more productive and fruitful.

These are just a few tips on getting started throwing blades and gaining practice. When you get good at throwing it can be hours of fun.

Best Camping Tent: Exactly What Helps It Be The Best

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

There are a lot of factors to think about before concluding a tent as the best camping tent. Having said this, expensive tents do not always mean that they are the best. They may however have a lot of different features but you must consider those with the quality and features that you need. Here are the things for you to consider:

1. Being able to withstand different weather conditions. For a tent to be considered as the best camping tent, it must be able to withstand different weather climates. A few example of this would be the 3-season and 4-season tents. 3-season tents are perfect for any kind of weather except for extremes. It is not designed to be used in areas with extreme cold weathers. If you are going to places with very cold climates, a 4-season tent is just perfect. This will ensure that you will have the warmth that you need even if you are on top of mount Everest. It can also perform particularly well during normal temperatures.

2. Durable. The tent that you choose shouldn’t break easily and should last for many outdoor trips. Some very durable ones might be expensive but they can be used countless times, provided that you take care of it properly of course. There are cheap brands however that are just as durable as expensive ones, so read reviews first before deciding on a particular tent. In doing so, you are able to get the best value from your money.

3. Ventilation of a tent is a must to consider. Ventilation is very vital in choosing a tent. There are waterproof tents that do not have enough ventilation, we do not prefer these. Choose tents that are not only water-resistant, but also have good ventilation.

4. Easy tent set up. The best camping tent must be easy to set up. Setting it up must not take you hours or even cost a lot of energy. This is so that you can enjoy more the trip. In addition to this, storing your tent must also be easy. The camping tent should be as simple to fold as it is simple to set up.

The best camping tents for sale can be found if you consider these factors. The price is not the only consideration when talking about durability. Others are not as expensive but are durable enough. The ventilation of the tent should be good for a more comfortable relaxation place. Finally, setup and re-storing of your tent must be easy for your convenience.

Blow Up Fishing Boats That Cost Less Than A Hundred Cash

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

Inflatable fishing boats cost more than a hundred bucks but allow me give you a listing of some reliable ones that are less than that. I am not a regular fisher but I do wish to go fishing once in awhile. It was something that my dad enjoyed doing and so it stuck. Growing up, we’d go angling on the lake with just the pole and also the lure. Then every couple of months or so, my dad would take me and my younger brother to an open ocean where we would rent a ship and go deep-water fishing. I enjoyed the boat excursion much more than the actual angling, which also caught. Now, I have my own kids and every now and then, we go out to sea to fish.

Unlike before though, we’ve our own boat and so, we do not have to rent. That’s, we’ve our own inflatable fishing boat. It is actual bonding, from inflating the boat to the rowing to the actual fishing and back again that will end in deflating the boat.

This is why I’m quite a professional in regards to the blow up fishing boat, particularly those that are under a hundred bucks because. Every now and then I have to buy a brand new blow up fishing boat because you cannot expect a ship that costs less than a hundred bucks to last a year with a developed man and two small kids on board.

The Club 400 inflatable fishing boat is just $42.99. This currently consists of two oars, two air chambers with double valves and an all around grab rope. Me and my two kids are perfect for this. A couple of times my wife tagged alongside and we really fit in this thing however it was extremely uncomfortable we could barely move. We did not go too deep, otherwise, the boat will not really carry our excess weight. Good thing I have a sexy wife.

But I cannot bring my wife in my Solstice Voyager Three-Person Inflatable fishing boats because it’s too restricting. But I love this better than the Club 400. It is a little more expensive at $60 but it’s worth it. Really, it could load three grownups so whenever you have two children and one adult in it, it has lots of leg space and also you even have a place for the bucket of fish.

Even better than this is the Intex Seahawk two Boat Set, also an inflatable fishing boat at $55. This is also my children’s favorites because it’s extremely manly adult looking.

Advantages Of Deer Hunting Blinds

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

You can find a lot of deer hunting equipments during deer hunting seasons. Although some are really essential others are just simply a waste of money since it is just a fancy hunting gear without any relevance to hunting. Some of the deer hunting gears that emerged are deer hunting crossbow and deer hunting blind. There are deer hunters that do not make use of a deer hunting blind, however it does not mean that purchasing one will only serve to be useless. Here are some advantages if you use deer hunting blinds:

Deer hunting blinds helps in concealing your body as well as your scent especially when you are wearing musk and other perfumes and body sprays. Ideally speaking you must not have any other smell aside from the natural odor that you have. Though with the use of a deer hunting blind, you can still use your deodorant and wear your perfume as it will cover up the smell.

A deer hunting blind can benefit you greatly by concealing yourself, both in sight and in smell which means that you can avoid any unwanted encounter with other wild animals. With the use of this hunting blind you can rest assured that there will be no bugs bugging you during your hunt thus you can remain concealed until you get your target.

Since at times weather becomes unpredictable, your deer hunting blinds can serve as your protection from harsh weather. It can protect you from rain as well as the blazing heat of the sun and most of all from the drenching snow. Even open hunting blinds with an enclosed top can still protect you from a heavy and strong wind blow.

One last beneficial aspect with this gear is that it is light enough for you to carry and transport. You can choose many different sizes, types and styles. Therefore you can have a lot of options to choose aside from this there are also hunting blinds which is built to suit your needs such as a ladder stand or a tripod. Hunting blinds are varied widely for specific purposes.

Ideally you must choose a color for your hunting blind that suits the surrounding or as much as possible a color that does not attract your target deer. Therefore even if you are the most silent hunter you can still end up frustrated if your target can escape. A deer hunting blind will increase your chances of successfully getting your target.

What Material Are Bowie Knife Handles?

Friday, December 11th, 2009

When it comes time to choose that new bowie knife, you’ll have quite a few things to consider. One of the most important is what type of handle material you want. While blade length and the actual style of the blade are certainly vital questions to answer, choosing the right handle is imperative. The right handle choice will give you a bowie knife that offers a great grip, the look and feel that you want, and will also play a role in the durability and longevity of your knife. What materials can you choose from?

Wood - Wood is the traditional choice for bowie knife handles. You might find that the knife you like offers a solid wood handle, though most feature two wood “scales” or halves joined with rivets and other hardware. The hardware might be made of brass, silver or steel, depending on the model that you choose. Some popular woods used for bowie knife handles include walnut, cocobolo, oak and much more.Wood can be shaped easily, so that it has any type of style desired, or it can be made to resemble other materials.

Can I Take a Bowie Knife on a Plane If it is in My Suitcase?

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Being able to carry your personal belongings with you when you travel is of the utmost importance. Why wouldn’t you be able to carry your bowie knife with you on an airplane? Well, after the backlash of 9/11, it seemed that you couldn’t carry anything aboard a plane, without being suspected of terrorism. However, the TSA has eased some travel requirements. So, can you carry that bowie knife with you on a plane?

First, you will need to make sure that your bowie knife is not packed in your carryon luggage. While you can take bowie knives aboard planes, your carryon bag is most certainly not the right place for them. Where can you put them? The only place that the TSA allows bowie knives is in your checked baggage - your suitcase, for example. This type of baggage is checked at the ticket counter, and then sent down a conveyor belt to be loaded in the belly of the plane. While this will certainly keep you apart from your knife for the duration of the flight, it does allow you to travel with your weapon.

However, the news is not all bad. The TSA does allow you to carry a bowie knife with you if it is packed in your suitcase, so long as that suitcase is checked at the ticket counter and is not a carryon item. Of course, there are a couple of further caveats to this, as well. Your knife must be securely packed, sheathed and safe. It cannot be left loose inside your suitcase, nor can you pack it without its sheath. Interestingly, the same rules apply to swords, razors and other knives. If this seems a bit inconvenient, remember, you shouldn’t have any need for your knife during the flight, so packing it away before hand should be no issue.

Second, bowie knives must be secured within their sheath. A strap holding the blade within the sheath will suffice. However, if your sheath is not so equipped, you can opt to wrap your knife in cloth, bubble wrap or some other material. In fact, the more heavily packed your knife is, the better the chance that it will arrive at your destination.

Carrying your bowie knife with you is more convenient than you might think, but it will necessitate that you plan ahead and prepare for any contingencies that might arise. That said, with a bit of forethought, you can arrive at your destination and have your bowie knife with you at the same time, which is better than many travelers assume.

Beware Of Buying A Second Hand Jeep!.

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

It is always important to know about the product or the machine you want to buy. It would be wise to have the basic idea of what you would have to check before you buy it. Very recently I have seen jeeps for sale sign and wondered what kind of jeeps he is talking about.

The type of jeep and the purpose for which it is to be used has to be ascertained. You need to then examine the Jeep on Sale depending on the above criteria. If the price seems reasonable ask about the warranty. The reason for the low price should also be found out. There could be a specific reason, so make sure you know what it is. Don’t make a hasty decision.

What you need to look for when you purchase a new or used jeep that is put on for sale, varies based on the type of the jeep and what it is or would be used for. In case of new jeep, you better find out why it is put on for sale. If you think that the price is very low, then don’t forget to enquire about the warranty of the vehicle. Also ask why the price is so less. There could be a catch, so be careful. Don’t be hasty in taking a decision.

The more number of kilometers traveled lesser the price. The condition of the tyres should also be checked. A long test drive would help to determine their condition provided the owner is agreeable to this. Gears should not appear sluggish. Mileage is also another vital point.

Check the distance it has traveled, that could be helpful in bargaining if possible - greater is the distance traveled lesser the price. Check the condition of the tires, if they are worn out. May be you should take a long test drive -if the previous owner has no problem with that- and check if the gears are sluggish. Inquire about the vehicle mileage.

There is one thing you mustn’t forget to ask and that is if the vehicle had met with any accidents. Once again no matter what the owner says it’s better if you get it checked by a personal mechanic. In case of military jeeps that go through the rough and rugged plains, you need to check for cracks in those parts that take the maximum pressure. Do check if the engine runs smoothly when you take it for a drive.

If you find that by all means this is the best deal available in the market, only then put your money on that. Wish you get a jeep that solid as a stone.

So you’re looking forJeeps for sale ? Why dont you check out some of the great deals available from our store. Perhaps you’re looking forJeep Wranglers for sale. Well, it’s your lucky day coz we sell them to. All just great deals for your money, what are you waiting for, treat yourself today.

That’s A Brown Corky Fatboy Lure For You!

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

Imagine yourself as a 10 pound speck for just a few minutes. You’ve spent much of the winter hanging out in a relatively warm East Matagorda Bay mud flat, waiting for spring to show itself. And there it is - the sun finally starts coming out enough to warm the waters, signaling that it’s time for action.

You start to move, cruising right along the flat until you see it - your favorite spot to feed. The patch of mud with its shell pad is a familiar landmark and you think back happily about years past when you would happily fill up on all you can eat shrimp and finger mullet. Your stomach immediately starts to grumble as you recall these feasts.

You get into your favorite spot, right where the shell bed meets the mud and wait. Before long, a tempting six inch mullet comes along, oblivious to your presence.

Before the mullet even knows what happened, you’re drifting back to the bottom feasting on your first catch of the season.

Only a moment later you see another one; this one looks like it’s wounded. An easy catch, you chuckle to yourself as you prepare to pounce.

Like a flash of lightning you’re on the mullet and it’s in your jaws - but this one seems to be stronger than you!

A forceful shake dislodges your prey, but somehow you’re still being pulled upwards and you become too tired to fight back against the pull of that Boga caught in your lip.

“It’s gotta be at least ten pounds!” someone exclaims.

Two other men approach, admiringly looking you over. Is that a camera flash you see?

Finally they unhook you and pit you back in the water, exhausted but relieved to have survived the ordeal.

While making your way back to the bottom, you can faintly make out someone saying “And that’s why I like Corky Fat Boy lures.” You’re not entirely sure what that means, but you know you’ll think twice before pouncing on a wounded mullet next time.

If this is how a trophy trout really understood us when we talked, they’d know that in being tricked by the lure, they were making an angler’s dream a reality.

When word broke out that James Wallace broke the state’s speckled trout record, an infection had spread across the gulf coast; fishermen turned to an arsenal of Corky’s, a slow sinking soft bait, when hunting for the trout of their lifetime. Packing the size of a topwater and the wobble of a broken-back, the tempting attraction of a slow retrieved Corky in winter is just flat out effective for trophy specks.

“James Wallace really grew our business with that catch,” says B&L Corky founder Paul Brown. “Once the word got out, we were sold out of each and every Corky almost instantly.” Of course, Corky saltwater fishing lures are still the hottest item at this family owned Houston shop, as they have been since that famous catch.

Captain Mike McBride, a fishing guide in Port Mansfield is a man who knows Corkys well and uses these lures along with his own one of a kind retrieve to land speckled trout on the lower Texas coast.

“You work your lures a bit differently based on what part of the coast you’re on, but I try to pop the knot off while trying to keep up with the slack if at all possible,” says McBride. Contrary to the advice you’ll find in many of the fishing reports, Captain McBride doesn’t generally go with the slower than slow approach many use. He instead uses more aggressive movements which mimic the behavior of real baitfish, which as he points out is the beauty of a Corky in the first place.

Matagorda trophy trout guide Captain Jesse Arsola tells us that he has a specific technique for working Corkys saltwater fishing lures.

“When trout are aggressive they will nail anything; but when you have to work for them to bite, technique really comes into play.”

“If I use a Corky, I’m usually using a counting system. I keep track of how long it takes the lure to hit bottom, then I vary the amount of time I allow my Corky to sink before I pull out the slack. From there, it’s just a matter of identifying what count you tend to get bites on. This is a really easy way to figure out just where in the water column the trout are feeding.”

Captain John Havens, a tournament angler from Clear Lake, Texas favors chartreuse, white, and gold sided Corky Devil and a rather routine retrieve.

“Make sure to stay in contact with the lure at all times to feel the most subtle of bites.” When working a Corky Devil, Havens retrieves with a lift of the rod with one or two twitches before allowing the lure to fall.
